The farm Poggio al Chiuso is located in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, a small town in the heart of Chianti at half way between Florence and Siena surrounded by vineyards and olive groves.
Know how, dedication and tradition are the main features of our farm, which has been producing wine for 40 years and is particularly appreciated for the quality and authenticity of its products.
Our wine is made of the best grape varieties cultivated in the Chianti area, such as Sangiovese, and fully respects the Tuscan winemaking tradition.
The cultivation of these grapes can be traced back through the centuries to ancient Greece and Rome. In fact, the word Sangiovese comes from the Latin "sanguis Jovis," which means blood of Jupiter.
In a bottle of "Poggio al Chiuso" wine you will find, history, tradition and the culture of Chianti.
Particular attention is given to indigenous grapes such as Sangiovese and Canaiolo that are the basis for all red wines produced, except that along with Merlot Sangiovese is used for the production of Rosso IGT "Le Cappelle," since some years the leading wine in the company.
